One of the fundamental human motivator models is of ‘needs’. Needs assume that we have common drivers that underly most other motivations. If we understand these, we can better understand why people say and do what they do.

A common model is Maslow’s Hierarchy, but there are also many others.

Yet the many models suggest that perhaps needs are not as simple as we may think. We may also rail against the idea that we are each driven by a small set of motivators.
