Sometimes our gut reaction to an idea is reactionary and based on knee-jerk responses rather than logic or careful deliberation. I used to be totally against all street drugs (illegal drugs) because my education told me they were bad. I changed my mind later for two reasons:
- There is evidence to suggest that legalising drugs creates a better net sum game (the cost/benefit analysis comes out in favour of it
- Some street drugs have scientifically-proven medical benefits (See Professor David Nutt for more details)
The risks of street drugs are also not what most of us would expect:
It would interest me to have a discussion looking at all sides of his debate.
